Legacy Garden Opening Ceremony

The Ontario Parks Association and the Niagara Parks Commission Association School of Horticulture Alumni Legacy Prairie Garden is the result of the 75th Anniversary celebrations for both organizations held in 2011. Four years of planning and fund raising have now resulted in a beautiful garden with a purpose. The huge decline of the Monarch Butterflies and the reduction of the bee population across North America reveals the value of profiling these issues and the support needed to return their numbers to what they were.

Thank you to all the donors and particularly Donna and Mike Milloy who not only donated but Mike’s firm GatemanMilloy Landscaping constructed phase one. An entrance feature will be unveiled outlining a description of the Garden with all the donor names during the Opening Ceremonies.

The excellent environmental message to visitors, the opportunities to learn and the noted Legacy is an admirable celebration of 75 years of horticultural excellence for the School of Horticulture and the Ontario Parks Association members.

Join us for the opening and ‘the turning over’ ceremonies of the project as the Garden is formally transferred to the Niagara Parks Commission on Saturday, September 13th at 1:00 pm. Details to follow!
