Green Infrastructure in the City Video Series

Toronto, December 15, 2014 - The Green Infrastructure Ontario (GIO) Coalition has released a new series of short videos on green infrastructure. The three-part “green infrastructure in the city” series covers a range of topics related to living green infrastructure - the multi-scale network of ecological features that can boost the ecological, economic, and human health of our communities.

The videos outline what green infrastructure is and provide examples from around an urban setting. They also explore different examples of green infrastructure, from tree-lined streets, urban parks and gardens, to green technologies such as green roofs and permeable pavement. The videos highlight Ontario’s need for more green infrastructure and encourage everyone to imagine their communities If we invested in green infrastructure like we do in grey.

Watch the video series:

Part I: What is green infrastructure?

Part II: Looking for green infrastructure.

Part III: Finding more for green infrastructure.

Organic Land Care Accreditation Program
This program is designed for those managing or maintaining grounds or community gardens (whether they be ornamental gardens, turf or vegetables).

Learn how to assess the health of your soil and support the natural processes within the soil that result in plant health. A new decision making framework will be presented to enable you to work with nature to create and maintain healthy, beautiful landscapes, including lawns. Support for the process of transitioning a landscape from chemical dependency (including synthetic fertilizers) to organic self-sufficiency is what sets this course apart from traditional soil science courses.

This course is for those with previous landscaping education/experience only.

For more information on this training, course dates and times, and to register, click here (you will be redirected to the Landscape Ontario website).
