Check out this newly released book written by Melissa Martz.

Inclusive Playgrounds: Play for All Children was written to bring awareness of what an inclusive playground is, and how they are the wave of the future. By 2025, all public playgrounds are to be fully inclusive, this includes parks, schools, and community centres. Ontario is well on its way to reach that goal, with the opening of several inclusive playgrounds in Elmira, Guelph, Port Hope, Orangeville, Brockville, Elora, Fergus, and the list goes on...

This book will give readers both the insight and inspiration of what goes into bringing an inclusive playground to fruition, and how they can bring an inclusive playground to their community.

Partner Programs

Want to learn more about the Yardstick benchmarking project?

Yardstick Global – Presentation in your community!

OPA is pleased to announce that our partner, Chris Rutherford of Yardstick Global, will be visiting Ontario in June 2016 and will make time to visit communities considering a membership in Yardstick Benchmarking for Parks or Facilities, or Yardstick Surveys for Parks or Facilities.

More than 20 Canadian communities are already a part of this international park and recreation facility benchmarking and survey system. The sessions may be tailored to your particular area of interest and held in your community at no charge to you.  This is a great opportunity to assemble your entire management team to meet with Chris and ask all the hard questions.

Declare your interest today by emailing Chris at chris@xyst.biz and arrange a time for his visit.  You can familiarize yourself with the program by visiting https://www.yardstickglobal.org/

Highway of Heroes - A Tree for Every Hero

"When a member of our Canadian Armed Forces falls, his or her final journey is over a leg of the 401 called the Highway of Heroes. We’re turning this barren stretch of highway into a living, breathing memorial—one tree for each of the 117,000 men and women who have given their lives." (Excerpt taken from the hohtribute.ca website.)
