Irrigation TECHNICIAN Workshop

Instructed By:

Steve Hernandez

This one-day Irrigation Workshop has been designed specifically for our frontline parks staff, addressing irrigation issues as they pertain to parks and sports fields. The morning session will take place in-class, with the afternoon session consisting of a number of outdoor demonstrations.

This course will cover:

  • Irrigation service spring and fall
  • Service and repairs with demonstrations

  • Irrigation controls

  • New technologies - wireless soil monitoring, weather-based control and central control

  • A full afternoon of outdoor onsite demonstrations

This course is worth .5 credit towards your Parks Practitioner Designation.
Want to host this session?

For this 1 day session we require a classroom that can accommodate approximately 30 people and has a projector and screen and whiteboard available. The host facility also needs to be within a short distance (preferably walking distance) to an irrigation demo site (preferably a sports field) available to be turned on.

The irrigation site should have readily available:
  • An accessible and view able controller
  • A shut off valve and winterization port
  • Accessible valve box or boxes
  • Water that can be turned on for testing the system

Here's what people say about this course:

  • "Great range of material covered"
  • "Enjoyable and productive, the right amount of information is provided for the timing"
  • "Steve is a knowledgeable and confident presenter"
  • "The half day in class was perfect followed by an enjoyable field portion to better understand what was taught in the classroom ~ A fantastic one day course!"
