ROLE PROFILE: Park Operations

REPORTS TO:     Park Operations Supervisor

START DATE:     Immediately

Downsview Park is currently seeking applications to fill two full time employment opportunities within its

park maintenance division, reporting to the Park Operations, Supervisor. The position will be responsible

for all aspects of ground maintenance including horticulture, turf and forestry.


  • Maintain horticultural displays;
  • Maintain and nurture an evolving urban forest;
  • Maintain turf areas using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles;
  • Sports field and turf maintenance;
  • Installation and maintenance of park furnishings;
  • Operate and maintain a variety of park maintenance equipment;
  • General park maintenance such as litter pick up, cleaning, painting, and other related maintenance;
  • Winter maintenance such as snow clearing;
  • Construction and maintenance of hardscapes;
  • Assist with special events as required;
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Post secondary education or accreditation in related horticulture, park, or landscape field.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the related field.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid G license.
  • Must have a current knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, weekends as required.


  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • A team player that is supportive of colleges and embraces a collaborative approach to problem solving.
