    • Maintenance, repair and renovation of turf in, on and around City parks, trails, greenways, community centers, aquatic centers, arenas, some libraries, boulevards, roadsides, medians and storm water management areas
    • Sportsfield setup, maintenance and turf renovation
    • Maintenance of flower beds and hanging baskets; planting, weeding, and providing general care and maintenance of mixed perennial, bi-annual and annual plant material
    • Watering and fertilizing plant material
    • Assisting in the maintenance of trails, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts and outdoor furniture
    • Snow removal duties in the winter
    • Other duties as assigned


        1. Must be reliable with good attitude and employment record.
        2. Must be willing to successfully complete a medical examination if required.
        3. Must successfully complete required professional criteria as it relates to this job title.
        4. Must have minimum Grade 12 diploma or meet requirements of GATB testing or GED
        5. Must have demonstrated communication/customer service skills and successfully pass applicable testing with an ability to keep accurate written records.
        6. Must be prepared to be trained in the operation of all related equipment and work skills.
        7. Must be able to perform a variety of duties including manual labour.
        8. Must be flexible to work varying shifts, & rotational duties, weekends and overtime as required.
        9. Must have an ability to participate as an effective team member.

        Candidates selected for hire will be required to provide a satisfactory driver's abstract dated no earlier than 30 days prior to their hire date as a condition of employment.

        Candidates may be required to complete and pass on-line testing and training prior to their start date.

        Please note that as per Human Resources Policy #II-110, "Employment of Relatives of Staff Members and Elected Officials":
        "The immediate relatives of staff of the Human Resources Division, all Directors, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, or the Chief Administrative Officer and Elected Officials shall not be employed by the City in any capacity.
        The immediate relatives of all other Management personnel shall not be employed where such employment would be:
        1. within the same Department in the case of permanent full-time, temporary full-time and part-time classifications.
        2. within the same Division in the case of students."
