THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON

LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN / URBAN FORESTRY PROJECT MANAGER (3-Year Contract)

Reporting to the Managing Director of Community Services, the Township of Centre Wellington is seeking a Landscape Technician / Urban Forestry Project Manager to provide the design, construction, development and re-development of the urban forest and public open space.

Duties & Responsibilities: Accountability for planning, designing and redeveloping parks and green spaces; assisting with implementation of public realm initiatives, ensuring compliance with reviewing park and open space components related to development agreements; preparing conceptual plans, managing budgets and scheduling of park and greenspace construction projects; coordinating and evaluating requests for proposals and tender bids; managing the study and evaluation of the status, condition and performance of the township’s existing urban forestry infrastructure; ensuring sustainability of the urban forest; managing the development and implementation of the Township’s Urban Forest Management Plan and Emerald Ash Borer Strategy; responding to residents, and coordinating community and public involvement in green development and redevelopment.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Forestry or Landscape Design from a recognized University or College. A minimum of 4-5 years of directly related and project management experience. Excellent commitment to collaboration and consultation with internal staff and external consultants on planning, design and implementation of parks projects and public realm initiatives.

Demonstrated ability and in-depth knowledge of green construction techniques, technologies and detailing. Excellent organizational, prioritization, interpersonal, analytical and time management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s License and clean abstract.

Salary & Benefits: Compensation is based on a $67,549 - $79,530 range [2016 rates].
