PARKS PRACTITIONER DESIGNATION


INTERMEDIATE PARKS PRACTITIONER (IPP)

Designation Requirements:

  •  At least 2 years of parks and open space industry experience
  • OPA member in good standing
  • Hold current WHMIS & Standard First Aid training certificates
  • Attained 6 credits by attending OPA training and events (see training and credits information below)

ADVANCED PARKS PRACTITIONER (APP)

Designation Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of parks and open space industry experience
  • Hold the Intermediate Parks Practitioner designation
  • OPA member in good standing
  • Hold current WHMIS & Standard First Aid training certificates
  • Attained additional 14 credits above those earned to achieve the Intermediate Parks Practitioner level (20 credits in total)

Earn Credits by Attending OPA Training (1 credit per day of training)

  • Ball Diamond Maintenance and Best  Practices
  • Basic Chipper Operations and Handling
  • Bridge Inspection
  • Chainsaw Safety Awareness (One-Day)

  • Introductory Playground Compliance
  • Irrigation Workshop
  • Seasonal Parks Equipment Training
  • Supervisor/Lead Hand  Competency
  • Train the Trainer
