The Ontario Parks Association Foundation (OPAF) 


The Ontario Parks Association Foundation is a registered Charitable Organization (Registered Number: 891191777 RR001) incorporated in 1987 to further education through related technology in the field of public parks within the Province of Ontario.

Goal

To raise funds to assist deserving students enrolled in post-secondary education studying parks, horticulture, environmental and related fields.

Objectives

  • Support goals and objectives of the Ontario Parks Association (OPA)
  • Assist students and their families in funding education requirements
  • Create social networking venues for persons involved in or with and interest in parks, horticulture and the environment that support fundraising activities of the Foundation
  • Develop and implement an investment and management strategy that will ultimately allow the OPAF bursary and scholarship fund to become self-sustaining (i.e. investment gain will support payouts in perpetuity)
  • Additional bursaries and scholarships may be added once the fund is self-sustaining
  • Increase the profile of the OPAF with the members of the OPA, post- secondary schools and students
  • Establish annual award targets for five year periods with annual review



The OPAF has established a fund to provide financial support to our future professionals through bursaries and scholarships for educational purposes.

A total of five bursaries and scholarships are awarded to qualified post-secondary students who complete the requirements of application and who are studying in a related field, aligned with the goals of the Foundation and the Ontario Parks Association, where the:

“Ontario Parks Association (OPA) is committed to civic beautification, the advancement, protection and conservation of parks, open space and the environment as we practice "Protecting Tomorrow Today" in the province of Ontario.”

Foundation Membership
