About the Ontario Parks Association Foundation (OPAF)

The Ontario Parks Association Foundation is a registered Charitable Organization (Registered Number: 891191777 RR001) incorporated in 1987 to further education through related technology in the field of public parks within the Province of Ontario.

To raise funds to assist deserving students enrolled in post-secondary education studying in the parks, horticulture, environmental and related fields.

  • Assist students in funding education requirements
  • Create social networking venues for persons involved in or with an interest in parks, horticulture and the environment that support fundraising activities of the Foundation
  • Develop and implement an investment and management strategy that will ultimately allow the OPAF Bursary and Scholarship Fund to become self-sustaining (i.e. investment gain will support payouts in perpetuity). Additional bursaries and scholarships may be added once the fund is self-sustaining
  • Increase the profile of the OPAF with the members of the OPA, post-secondary schools and students
  • Establish annual award targets for five year periods with annual review
  • Support goals and objectives of the Ontario Parks Association (OPA)

Scholarship & Bursary Awards

The OPAF has established a fund to provide financial support to our future professionals through bursaries and scholarships for educational purposes.

A total of up to five bursaries and scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each are awarded each year to qualified post-secondary students who meet the requirements of application. Applicants are post-secondary students studying in parks, horticulture, or an environmental related field, whose goals are aligned with those of the Foundation and the Ontario Parks Association, where the:

“Ontario Parks Association (OPA) is committed to civic beautification, the advancement, protection and conservation of parks, open space and the environment as we practice 'Protecting Tomorrow Today' in the province of Ontario.”
