Playspace Accessibility Training

This 2-day interactive workshop has been designed to advance the accessibility awareness of playground designers, providers, owners, and anyone who has an interest in the area of inclusive play in today’s play environments. Instructors will deliver a comprehensive review of the expectations and requirements for accessibility within Ontario’s playspace and play-equipment designs. 

This course will cover:

  • An overview of the social and human rights issues related to accessibility
  • A thorough review of the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation 191/11 –Design of Public Spaces Standard criteria for Outdoor Play Spaces, and Exterior Paths of Travel
  • A thorough review of the CSA-Z614 - Annex H, informative criteria for "Children's playspaces and equipment that are accessible to persons with disabilities".
  • An insight into “Today’s Playspace” relative to accessible play components and surfacing options
Upon successful completion of this course, attendees will be recognized as Accessibility Practitioners through the OPA.
